Course Policies -

ATTENDANCE: Lecture attendance is required. You are responsible for any announcements and subject matter covered during class. According to the AUM Undergraduate Catalog “Students are expected to attend punctually every lecture, laboratory exercise, and other classroom activity.”  Exception: see Bad Weather Policy.

LATE ARRIVALS:  Be on time.  If you must arrive late, enter as unobtrusively as possible and use a seat behind others.   Students who arrive on time should leave the seats closet to the door open for those that must arrive late.

COURSE ETIQUETTE:       Please be thoughtful and considerate of others.  When the class period begins, be ready to work.  Please limit your talking to very occasional, brief remarks only about the course subject to someone next to you.  Do not use lecture time as a social occasion to catch up with what your friends have been doing or to clown around.  This type of behavior is distracting and rude to those who are serious about the course.  Don't be reluctant to ask questions.  Please be respectful of the questions of your classmates.  Turn off your watch alarms during the class period. Cellular phones, pagers, and other electronic devices cannot be used during class without permission of the instructor obtained prior to a specific class period.  Permission would be granted only on a class-to-class basis for exceptional or emergency circumstances. Audio recorders can be used if they are unobtrusive.

MISSED EXAMS:  Make-up exams are given at the instructor’s discretion and BEFORE the next class period following the exam.  Make-up exams will be predominantly essay style.  No make-up Final Exams will be given! Exception: See bad weather policy.

BAD WEATHER POLICY:  If we have dangerous weather conditions, check with AUM before driving to school.  I will attempt to post any canceled classes due to inclement weather on the course calendar of the web site and/or leave a message on my voice mail.  If you are traveling to AUM from a long distance away, use your best judgment.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY (from the AUM Catalog):
Students are expected to maintain academic integrity in all work pursued at Auburn University Montgomery.  Students should not condone violations of academic integrity and should act in a manner to prevent opportunities for violations.

REGISTRATION & WITHDRAWAL:

You must be officially registered to receive credit for the course.  Withdrawal policy is determined by University regulations.   Note that a student must withdraw formally from a course to avoid a grade of F and that the withdrawal procedures has a deadline of 5:00 P.M., Friday, March 15, 2002.
