Course: JUST 3130. Supervision and Management
Description: Examines the role of supervision in relation to
leadership, motivation, evaluation, and discipline in law enforcement agencies.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:
- articulate the differences
between supervisory responsibilities and those of management.
- understand and define
different supervisory and management leadership styles.
- understand and discuss the
importance of communication skills in personal and work relationships.
- identify and define
psychological defense mechanisms expressed in human behavior.
- contrast different
personality types and their impact on supervision and management.
- discuss characteristics of
supervisors and managers who demonstrate effective behavior.
- analyze police and
corrections case studies relating to supervision and management and
identify effective problem solving strategies.
