Course: JUST 3190. Personnel Security
Description: Comprehensive study of security problems related to
personnel; scope of personnel background investigations and utilization of
investigative reports; requirements of personnel used in personal protection of
selected individuals; procedures, problems, and concepts of personnel
protection.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:
- have a basic understanding of
the historical development of personnel security and espionage.
- have an understanding of
espionage and countermeasures.
- develop an understanding for
the necessity of risk identification and management.
- be aware of problems
associated with the dishonest employee.
- list procedural controls such
as hiring procedures, access to restricted areas, accounting and
receiving, shrinkage, detecting employee theft and pilferage, transporting
valuables, insurance and bonding, etc.
- list physical controls for
personnel security such as perimeter protection, exterior and interior
security, security equipment, lighting, alarms surveillance systems, etc.
- identify a variety of
personnel security problems of a criminal nature.
- have an understanding of
special personnel security problems associated with executives and their
families.
- be aware of a variety of
career opportunities in personnel security.
