Course: JUST 3620. Criminal Law
Description: Jurisprudential philosophy and case study of common law
and statutory crimes. Includes functions and development of substantive
criminal law; elements of specific offenses; defenses.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:
- know and understand the
nature and purpose of criminal law.
- know and understand the
constitutional limits on criminal law.
- know and understand the
principles and elements of criminal liability.
- know and understand attempt,
conspiracy, and solicitation.
- know and understand defenses
to criminal liability.
- know and understand crimes
against persons (homicide, assault & battery, sex offenses, etc.)
- know and understand crimes
against habitation (burglary, arson).
- know and understand crimes
against public order and morals.
