Course: JUST 4510. Justice and Public Safety Planning
Description: Introduction to planning concepts, methods,
implementation, budgeting, and evaluation. Discusses the relationship of
planning to effective management and decision-making. Develops a broad
conceptual framework for various planning methods and techniques.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:
- recognize the importance of
planning to criminal justice agencies in achieving effective management
and decision making.
- assess various planning
methods and techniques.
- develop a clear and concise
vision statement.
- establish realistic,
measurable goals and objectives.
- develop strategies to
implement stated goals and objectives.
- identify the differences
between long term planning and strategic planning.
- be able to use modern
computer tools (e.g. spreadsheets, project planning and other similar
software tools) to aid in the planning process.
- develop a strategic plan for
a fiscal year.
