Course: JUST 4640. Criminal Procedure

Description: A study of the legal steps involved in the enforcement of criminal law and the fundamental principles necessary to a fair trial. Procedurally oriented discussion of arrest, search and seizure, right to counsel, and due process of law.

Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:

• understand the fundamentals of the laws and rules of arrest.
• understand basic provisions of the Fourth Amendment concerning search and seizure.
• understand constitutional rules about interrogation and lineups.
• understand the criminal process from arrest to sentencing and appeals.
