OUTCOMES
Course: JUST 4650. Civil Litigation and Procedure
Description: A study of the legal steps involved in the preparation
of a civil case at law, efforts towards nonjudicial settlement, trial and
post-trial considerations, and general civil law matters. May be offered
concurrently with JUST 6650.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:
- understand the Federal and
Alabama legal systems and how they function relative to civil litigation.
- understand the basic
Federal and Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure.
- understand civil litigation
terminology.
- demonstrate the ability to
prepare basic civil litigation documents; for example, complaint, answer,
request for production of records, interrogatories, answer to
interrogatories.
- understand the ethical and
professional responsibilities of the lawyer and the legal assistant in
civil litigation.
