OUTCOMES
Course: JUST 4670. Family Law
Description: Examination of the law impacting family relationships
such as marriage, annulment, divorce, adoption, child support and custody,
child abuse, illegitimacy, termination of parental rights, separation
agreements, support agreements, and the rights of the parties involved.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:
- understand the general
principles of family law, including marriage, annulment, prenuptial
agreements, divorce, alimony, child custody, and property settlements.
- demonstrate the ability to
prepare basic family law documents.
- understand the recognition
of Alabama to both common law and ceremonial marriages and the grounds for
divorce in Alabama.
- understand the ethical and
professional responsibility of the lawyer and the legal assistant in
family law.
