Course: JUST 4710. Alternative Dispute Resolution
Description: Examination of the various aspects of Alternative
Dispute Resolution, including arbitration, negotiation, and mediation. The
class will look at differences and requirements in these areas, and explore
skills needed to work in this growing field of law.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:

various types of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
- know and understand history
of ADR.

negotiation strategies and tactics.
- know and understand ethical
considerations involved in ADR.
- know and understand
mediation strategies, skills and standards.
- know and understand
arbitration strategies, skills and standards.
- know and understand hybrid
and other various ADR methods and uses.
- effectively role play
various mediation scenarios.
- draft proposed mediation
settlement agreements.
- understand the Alabama and
federal statutes related to ADR.
