Course: JUST 4800. Paralegalism/Legal Ethics
Description: Survey of the occupational field of the "legal
assistant" concerning matters such as ethics, law office management, legal
research, law libraries, overview of administrative law, criminal law, civil
law, employment discrimination, and career opportunities.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
We expect students completing this course to be able to:
- have an understanding of
the basic requirements of the legal assistant career field and opportunities.
- know and understand legal
ethics as they relate to legal assistants.
- know and understand how to
conduct legal research.
- know and understand
Alabama, other state and federal judicial systems.
- know and understand basic
concepts of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
- know and understand legal
concepts of contracts, sales law, and torts.
- know and understand
administrative law and government regulations.
- know and understand civil
litigation and trial procedures.

criminal law and procedure.
