Project L.A.B.S.S. :

A federally funded activity, Project L.A.B.S.S. aimed at developing experiments and other modifications in order to include students with disablities in chemistry laboaratory experiences. The L.A.B.S.S. project concluded in the Fall of 1997, but the ideas, experiments, and modification practices developed as part of the project are still very much utilized in the department. Project L.A.B.S.S. gained national and international recognition through many publications and presentations by the project developers and staff.

JASON PROJECT :           In 1998, AUM will become a network site for the Jason Project. The Jason Project is a year long, award winning science education program which uses satellite broadcasts, the internet, and scientific investigations to excite and engage students in science and technology. It is currently active in approximately 35 states and involves hundreds of thousands of grade 4 - 9 students and teachers. This year, students will be invited to the AUM campus to view live broadcasts from Monterey Bay, Bermuda, and the Guaymas Basin in the Sea of Cortez as Jason IX : Oceans of Earth and Beyond takes students on a fascinating journey of scientific discovery.
