Chemistry Tutorials and other Resources on the Web

There are a great many Chemistry Tutorials across the World Wide Web, and even more Resources for chemistry. I have chosen but a few sites to link directly to. This is mainly because I attempted to ascertain the functionality of a given tutuorial, or the usefulness of a particular site. I will be adding more as time allows me to locate those deemed more relevant than others, or as I receive requests to link to specific sites.

The intent of this site is to provide access to functional Chemistry Tutorials and Resources for the purpose of student enrichment and exploration. The principles and theories explored in the tutorials and the content of particular resource pages may not reflect the specific content of a specific course, and are not intended to be substituted for lecture content; nor can I guarantee that a particular link is active.

CHEMISTRY TUTORIALS

Welcome to Organic Chemistry On-Line : This tutorial consists of a series of short reviews, followed by problems and exercises on that topic. A JavaScript-enabled browser is required to view these exercises, preferably Netscape or Internet Explorer, versions 3.0 or greater. Many of the exercises in this tutorial also utilize the molecular rendering plugin "Chemscape Chime", from MDL Inc.

Virtual Chemistry Laboratory : An online tutorial utilizing interactive experiments for helping Chemistry students understand basic chemical principles and theories.

Quantitative Models for Organic Chemistry Tutorials and Problems Classes : A feature of modern organic chemistry is that quantitative models can often provide considerable insight into the selectivity and reactivity of many organic reactions. This page provides a collection of such models, deriving from problem sets issued to students over the years, and of examples discussed in lectures.

Global Instruction Chemistry : A site providing students interested in futher exploration of chemical principles a method for self-paced instruction.

Wilton High School Tutorials and Other Things : This link takes you to pages that are very helpful for the beginning Chemistry student at all levels..

RESOURCES for CHEMISTRY

Advanced Chemistry Development's ChemSketch 3.5 Freeware: Now available for FREE, the most intuitive, most advanced PC-based all-purpose chemical drawing and graphics software. Chemical drawing is fast and simple with a wide variety of atom and bond type buttons. Control font, valence, line thickness, color, placement, etc. The package allows users to use templates or free hand, click and draw molecules, ions, stereobonds, text annotations, polygons, arrows, etc. Package also gives automatic calculation of molecular weight and formula and estimates of density, refractive index, molar volume, etc. Import/Export includes a variety of formats such as MOL, ISIS Sketch, ChemDraw, and GIF. Cut and paste structures and reactions into a word processor. Includes tautomer identifier, 3D optimizer and 3D viewer.

The ChemTeam: The ChemTeam offers chemistry students and teachers alike many resources for enhancing the understanding and instruction of Chemistry.

Chemistry Teaching Resources: This site is a virtual warehouse of chemistry - related resources, including problem-solving exercises, chemistry related texts, chemical calculators, virtual classrooms, and a host of other items useful for chemistry students and teachers.
