Professional Activities:

Dr. Allen is the Director of Health Programs for the Alabama College System. She provides assistance in planning, implementing, and evaluating the health programs in the system. Prior to that she was an Education Administrator in the Division of Instruction for the Alabama State Department of Education.

Dr. Allen received the Community Service Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2003 and the PRIDE Award from the Alabama State Association for Health in 2001. Her latest publication is "The Impact of Elementary School Nurses on Student Attendance," in the Journal of School Nursing, 2003.

Dr. Allen is married with two children. She is an avid marathon runner and golfer.
