Lt Gen Clifford H. "Ted" Rees Jr. is currently the president of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institue in Arlington, Va.

Major General James Mussellman is the Vice Director for Operations at the Joint Staff in the Pentagon.

Bruce S. Johnson is the project director at Abu Dabi Airport, UAE, in Orlando, Florida.

Bernard "Buck" Singer has retired to farming and collecting antique tractors in Yankton, South Dakota, after 40 years of federal civil service.

Lt. Gen. Jay W. Kelley retired on October 1, 1996 as commander, Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, AL and director of education, Air Education and Training Command.

Victor H. Lipsey is the president of WORLDNETT in Texas.

Gen. Henry H. Shelton retired on September 30, 2001, after serving a second two-year term as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  General Shelton earned a bachelor of science from North Carolina State University and a master of political science degree from Auburn University at Montgomery.  His military education includes completion of the Air Command and Staff College and the National War College.
 

Brigadier General Lloyd W. Smith is retired from the United States Marine Corps and is now living in Signal Mountain, Tennessee.

Samuel J. Yaeger, Professor of Public Administration and Urban Affairs at Wichita State University, has indexed, compiled, and edited the Index of the "Public Administration Review," 1940-1994. W. Bartley Hildreth, Distinguished University Professor, Wichita State University, received the Wichita State University's 2003 Excellence in Research Award. As Regents Distinguished Professor of Public Finance, he recently served on a delegation from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholoars where he advised Chinese officials on municipal bond markets.

Matthew D. Kirkpatrick is serving as a high school teacher and part time instuctor in political science at Bainbridge College in Geogia.

John Kreideweis is working as a principal in government contract consulting services for Ernst and Young, LLP, in Dallas, Texas.

William J. "Bill" Lynch retired in 1984 as Director of Personnel for the United States Air Force. He currently lives in Port Gibson, MS with his wife, Alice. He is the Chairman of the Claiborne County Preservation Commission.

Gerald J. Miller, Associate Professor of Public Administration, Rutgers University, Newark, won the American Society for Public Administration 1995 Laverne Burchfield Award for the outstanding book review essay in a 1994 issue of the Public Administration Review.

Phillip G. Payne works for the Montgomery County Board of Education as a teacher of economics and political science at Lee High School. He is president of PM Photography, Inc.and is becoming more active in the business community now that retirement age is approaching.

Robert M. "Bob" Riegle lives in Auburn and is the minister to two United Methodist Churches. He obtained an M.P.A. from AUM in 1980 and an Ed.D. from Auburn in 1988.

Glenn A. Shockley retired from the Defense Intelligence Agency and is enjoying the tranquillity in Leesburg, VA with his wife, Ann.

Maj Gen (ret) D. Bruce Smith is working at the Systems Integration Division of Lockheed Martin Corporation in San Antonio, Texas.  His last active duty assignment with the Air Force was as Commandant of the Air War College.

Russell D. Thompson is a self-employed attorney in Mississippi.

Bert Estes is the Chief Clerk for the Montgomery County Probate Office. He is currently the president of the Alabama Association of Probate Court Chief Clerks.

Richard "Dick" Moncus is an Administrative Analyst for the Alabama Department of Human Resources. He was elected to the Montgomery City Council in 1991, serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way and the Council on Substance Abuse, and is Deputy Commander of the Chilton County Civil Air Patrol Squadron.

Bob Putney (U.S. Air Force, Ret) has retired as Director of Lockheed M & S Company and is now playing golf and living at Ridgemark G&CC.

Lawrence "Larry" Quinn is the Chief of Applications Engineering for the United States Air Force Philips Laboratory at Edwards Air Force Base where he develops tactical, ballistic, and launch vehicle solid propulsion technology.

Sandra Thomas is working for the Social Security Administration.

Chester A. "Soapy" Walborn owns a stock brokerage and financial planning firm in Idaho.

Dr. Kitty Collier serves as Head of the Division of Academic Affairs and Planning of the Alabama Commision on Higher Education.

Charles O. Cox retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1992 as a colonel and became the Staff Representative for Officers' Christian Fellowship for Maxwell AFB/Gunter Annex.

John Eagerton has been appointed Director of the Alabama Aeronautics Commission.

Jack W. Gundrum is the Manager of Administrative Services and Compliance at Textron Lycoming in Connecticut where he provides training, and monitors and enforces implementation of federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Joseph Redden has been named Superintendent of Schools for Cobb County, Georgia.

Col Authur J. Willis manages the F/A-18 and B-2 Support Operations for Northrop Grumman and is a member of the Brea, California City Council.

James McVay is the Director of Health Promotion for the Alabama Department of Public Health where he coordinates public information and health education. He obtained his D.P.A. from the University of Alabama in 1991.

Christian "Chris" Morris is the City Manager for the City of Willard, Ohio.

George E. Tormoen retired from the position as Chief (Dean) of National Security Affairs at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. He plays golf about three times per week and recently shot a round of golf that was two less than his age of 76 years.

Brenda Carter is the Director of Programs for the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. Her duties include planning, coordinating, and directing the evaluation and review of new programs and units of instruction. She is on the Montgomery Area Council on Aging Board and the YMCA Goodtimes Board. A student in the joint campus AU/AUM Ph.D. program, Brenda recently reviewed Linda Harasim, et al., Learning Networks, MIT Press, 1995, for the Fall, 1996 issue of the Social Science Computer Review.

Kitty Collier is the Director of Planning for the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, where she coordinates and organizes the Commission's statewide planning process.

Wayne Engbretson is a Rating Specialist for the VA Regional Office. His children are grown but retirement is still off in the future.

Kenneth "Ken" Kissell is the director of product line planning for the Boeing Defense and Space Group in Seattle, Washington. His duties include developing annual business plans and projections.

Debi Bell Perkins is a fourth-grade teacher for the Elmore County Board of Education. She is very concerned with literacy with children as her particular focus.

Charlotte (Patterson) Hughes is the Manager, Federal Systems Division, Proposal Development Depart of the Intergraph Corporation where she manages the group responsible for developing proposals and other contract program-related projects. Intergraph is a Fortune 500 corporation specializing in CAD/CAM/CAE. Charlotte has received local and national awards for videos and brochures. She is married and has three children.

R. Ronald Jordan is Deputy Secretary of Public Safety for the Commonwealth of Virgina.

Carroll Nason is the Director of the Office of Health Resources and Services for the Jefferson County Board of Health where she plans, organizes and directs the financial, personnel, and operational activities. She recently received the D.P.A. from the University of Alabama. She anticipates a relocation to the Montgomery area.

Steve Mann is the Personnel Officer at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. He was selected as the Air Force Civilian Personnel Officer of the Year for 1993.

Eugene "Gene" O'Donnell is the Director, General Services of the Alabama Department of Human Resources where he is responsible for all logistical support for a statewide department with 4700 employees.

William H. (Bill) Pierce, an elected member of the Chesapeake City Council in Virginia, also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Virginia State Board of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse, and Chairman of the Hampton Roads Sanitation District Commission.

Robert O. Rich, Ph.D., is a professor of social work at Eastern Washington University. He is responsible for the graduate mental health curriculum and his research interests include the impact of managed care on mental health programming and practice.

Col Albert H. Smith is Vice President for Business Develpment and Marketing at J&J Maintenance, Inc. and is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Air Force Journal of Logistics.

Col Robert S. Fiero retired as President, Multi-Systems, Inc., and Secretary, Utah Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators.

Ron Goertz is the retired Director of Personnel for the Alabama State Department of Public Health.

Lt Col (ret) Stanford R. Gooch is Operations Research Analyst for U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt AFB, NE.

Ron Holt received his D.P.A. from the University of Alabama in 1989. He is currently the Director of Law Enforcement Training at the University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy.

Olivia Kendrick is the Department Head, Human Nutrition and Hospitality Management, University of Alabama. She teaches community nutrition and nutrition policy classes and conducts research addressing nutrition program evaluation.

William C. Kingsbury, Jr., Col. U.S. Air Force (Ret), is a self-employed political campaign consultant. Prior to his retirement in 1986 he was Assistant Undersecretary of Defense in the Reagan Administration. Now he designs strategies for winning political campaigns, primarily for Congressional and state legislative candidates.

Janet Lee Lanier is the Project Manager for the IT Corporation. She manages environmental remediation and investigative projects and manages the Alabama project office. She is married to Frank Lanier and has a daughter, Lindsay.

Merri Weldon Stuckey is a full-time wife and mother of two young boys, Coleman and Thomas.

Howard M. Whitfield is Executive Director of the Naval Helicopter Association.

Col Thomas J. Boyd is assistant Director and Chief, Readiness and Resource Division, Secretary of the AF, Office of Public Affairs.

Sam Gaston, city manager of Mountain Brook, was named 2001 Public Administrator of the Year by the Greater Birmingham Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration.

Jack Gifford is the Fiscal Manager for the Department of Mental Health of the State of Alabama. He manages a budget of $130 million for approximately 2200 employees and 5000 persons with mental retardation.

Frank Hanley is the former Director of Project Wild for the State of Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. He is a life member of the Montgomery Men's Bowling Association.

Charlie Frazier Lassiter is the Chief, Personnel and Training Division of the Department of Revenue. Her work involves policy formulation, payroll, personnel, and all printing of forms utilized by the department and taxpayers. Charlie was recently appointed to the AUM Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is married and has two children, Kevin and Kenikie.

Thomas Patterson is a personnel analyst for the State of Alabama personnel department. His job duties include conducting job analyses, developing written examinations, assessment centers, and other selection devices

Larry Coppock is the National Director of Scouting Ministries with the General Commission on United Methodist Men and is Executive Director of the United Methodist Men's Foundation, wervind as a contributing editor of Strength for Service to God and Country, a devotional book for military and public servants.

Alfred J. Davis has been elected President of the Alabama Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America. He has been Director of the Department of Solid Waste for the City of Auburn since 1992.

Marilyn Durham is the Associate Director of Planning and Analysis, Certificate Support Division for the Alabama Medicaid Agency. She went to Cuba in September as a member of the Frazer Memorial UMC work team to rebuild churches at the invitation of Fidel Castro. She also works with the Sewing Ministry teaching sewing and is the Facilitator for the Singles Support Groups. She chairs the Scholarships Selection Committee for the Indian Affairs Commission.

William B. Horne II was appointed City Manager in Clearwater, FL, after serving one year as Interim City Manager.

Herb Huber is the manager of Employee Development for Temple-Inland Forest Products Corporation. He is responsible for professional and technical training and development of approximately 2000 employees. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in July, 1993.

James Johnson obtained his Ph.D. from Florida State University in 1987. He is currently a Professor of Health Policy and Administration and Associate Professor Family Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

Karen B. Sellers was recently named a Woman of Achievement by the Montgomery Advertiser for her work as Director of the Family Violence Program of Montgomery.

Ritch Smith is the Program Director, Office of Special Events, the U.S. Department of Defense, where he manages defense support to international sporting events.

Dave White is the Chief of the Plans Division for the State of Alabama Emergency Management Agency. He is the state program manager for the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program and the chair of the Alabama Emergency Response Commission.

Al Matheson is the Retired Director of Launch and Control Systems Contracting for the U.S. Air Force. He is responsible for systems contracting for launch and control facilities in Vandenberg and Cape Kennedy.

Barbara Matheson is a retired contract negotiator for the U.S. Air Force.

Dot Moore retired in 1992 as an Educational Specialist for the Alabama Department of Secondary Education. She is currently a Democratic Party activist and serves on county and state executive committees.

Larry Vinson is the president of the Alabama League of Savings Institutes where he administers the statewide trade association.

Ann B. Harper was appointed Executive Director of the Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission in June, 1995. She also serves on the PS/PA Board of Advisors for AUM.

Teresa Harris received a law degree from the University of Alabama in 1987 and is a Deputy District Attorney for the Montgomery County District Attorney where she is a prosecuting attorney in the juvenile court.

Evelyn Holley Bellenger is a staff nurse for the Montgomery VAMC. She has two children.

Martha Arendale Griffith received her D.P.A. from the University of Alabama in 1990. She is an assistant professor, Department of Public Administration and Human Services at Kennesaw State College.

Faye Haygood has taken a position as Director of Physical Therapy, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Montgomery.

John Huffman is the Service Corridor Manager for J.C. Penny and Company, Montgomery.

Gordon R. Middleton, Deputy Architect, CIA/National Security Space Architect office, led the independent review of the Transformational Comms Architecture and managed the integrated ISR Architecture.

Peter Nicholson is living in Australia.

Stephan Porterfield received his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law in 1988. He is an attorney and shareholder with Sirote and Permutt, P.C. where he represents lenders and other creditors in business bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.

Sebrenia James Sims has written a book, Diversifying Historically Black Colleges and Universities: A New Higher Education Paradigm, which was recently published by the Greenwood Press of Westport, Connecticut.

Danielle Vinzant is an Assistant Administrator at the Montgomery Rehabilitation Hospital where she is responsible for all specialty programs and directly supervises all therapy departments, maintenance, housekeeping, dietary, pharmacy, case management, and ancillary services. She assists with budgeting and operations, conducts the accreditation process, and is responsible for the hospital in the absence of the CEO. She has a black belt in Taekwondo.

Denise D. Duclon is employed by the U.S. Department of State as the Regional Director for the central region of the U.S. and is responsible for foreign consulates and foreign mission personnel.

Benjamin Foster has taken a position as the Deputy Executive Director of Behavioral Sciences Unit for the Virginia Department of Health Professions.

Robert McCall, regulatory affairs specialist with the Steris Corporation (formerly American Sterilizer) has earned the Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) granted by the Regulatory Affairs Certification Board.  The RAC is awarded on performance on a comprehensive examination testing knowledge of FDA and related U.S. laws, regulations, policies and guidelines, emphasizing drugs, medical devices, and biology.

Donna Marietta has been appointed Director of Child Protect, Inc. in Montgomery, AL.
 

Percy L. Blackmon, Jr. is a branch manager for the Social Security Administration where he manages and supervises a social security office consisting of 9-12 employees. He is responsible for administrative personnel and operation functions.

Sherry Bradley has been appointed to serve as the Staff Assistant to William P. Allinder, Director, Bureau of Environmental Services, Alabama Department of Public Health. She continues to serve as the Director of the Division of Training and Environmental Programs where she is responsible for all bureau training, out-of-state training approval, and in-house meetings.

Jeanne Engle Gonterwitz is a homemaker and mother of a young son. She plans to return to work when her son is older and enjoys doing volunteer work in the meantime.

Barbara Harrell is the Director, Division of Minority Health, Alabama Department of Public Health.

Tracy Stewart McCooey obtained her J.D. from the University of Alabama in 1990. She is legal counsel for the Alabama State Employees Association.

Reginald Strickland works for the Alabama Department of Public Health as the Assistant Director, Center for Health Statistics. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Capital Region of the American Lung Association of Alabama and is a sustaining member of the Coalition for a Tobacco-free Alabama.

Dolan Heard lives in Belleville, IL and works for USPA and IRA as a District Agent. He and his wife Gina have two children, Cassandra and Dolan.

Dr. Kathy Henly completed the Ph.D. program in Public Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently teaching at the University of Richmond.

Rosemary R. Manley is the office administrator for Reese M. Hollifield, M.D. in Livingston, AL where she is responsible for administrative decisions, personnel management, and marketing.

Janice Powell McDonald is an elections analyst for the Secretary of State of Alabama, Elections Division. She coordinates and monitors specific federal and state election laws including voting rights related lawsuits and court orders, and campaign disclosure laws. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, cooking, painting and activities at the Taylor Road Baptist Church.

Alice Bryant McKinney, Administrative Division Chief for the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, was recently appointed by Governor Fob James to a 21-person Task Force to Study Finances. She has just completed the first year of her term as President of the Alabama State Employees Association, and also serves on the executive committees of both the Government Finance Officers' Association and the Montgomery Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants. She is an active member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. In 1992 she was given a Special Merit Award from the Alabama Society of CPAs for "Commitment to Safeguarding the Taxpayers' Dollars." She also serves as division director of the Eastdale Baptist Church Youth Sunday School.

Hans Searles is an Adjunct Instructor at Tidewater Community College where he teaches physical, regional and cultural geography and German. He recently retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army and is pursuing a second career in education.

Karl Thurber is an Adjunct Instructor at Troy State University in Montgomery where he teaches courses in state and local government and research. He received the D.P.A. from the University of Alabama in 1992 and is published in the Review of Public Personnel Administration and The Public Manager.

Tres Westbrook graduated #1 in his class (summa cum laude) at Cumberland School of Law. He is employed by a Birmingham law firm.

Leigh Anne Tucker Nevins, DMD, is a dentist practicing in Montgomery. She is membership chair of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry; District Delegate to the Alabama Dental Association annual meeting; member of the Soroptimist Club of Montgomery, and vice president of the District Dental Society Study Club.

Darrell Phillips is a Chief of International Law for the U.S. Air Force. He instructs attorneys and paralegals concerning international law, mediate law, and tort law.

Mary Davis is Deputy Defense Accounting Officer for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

Bo Evans, owner of Bo Evans Realty & Auction Co. in Prattville, was spotlighted in the Montgomery Advertiser.

Lori (Brady) Hart is the Assistant Deputy for Contracting for the U.S. Air Force. She formulates policy and provides staff direction for all contracting activities for the Office of Special Projects. She married CDR Robert S. Hart, U.S. Navy (Ret), in April 1993.

Larilee Maddox is an insurance analyst for EDS. She volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Department of Archives and History.

Scott Peecook is an instructor with the U.S. Navy. He teaches government and international affairs to midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy. He plans to retire from the Navy in 1996 to teach political science full time.

Sheri Powell is the Project ROSE (Recycled Oil Saves Energy) Director at the University of Alabama. She is responsible for the development and implementation of all energy and environmental-related activities of the program and administration of budget programs. Project ROSE received the 1995 State Recycling Award, "Best Community Volunteer Program," awarded by the Alabama Recycling Coalition.

Paul Smelley is the Program Director of the Alabama Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board with the Children’s Trust Fund.

Minnie Thomas is a program supervisor for the Alabama State Department of Human Resources. Her major responsibility is to intercept income tax from fathers who won't pay child support to their children She is active with the Alabama Elks Lodge in charity work.

David Walls is a special agent with the Federal Aviation Administration in Jacksonville, FL. He conducts criminal investigations of alleged illegal drug activity by airmen. He is also a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Lynn Ballard-Siaway is the Associate Director and Compliance Officer, Office of Sponsored Programs, Tuskegee University. She manages grantsmanship and research-related services and monitors government regulations and develops institutional policy related to research, science, grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.

Major Cox is a freelance writer and breeds quarter horses. His column can be seen in the Montgomery Advertiser.

Col Diana Fleek is with the United States Air Force.  She is the Director of Civil Military Innovative Readiness Training Program at the Pentagon.

John Gerome has been appointed state editor of the Chattanooga Times. Until recently John served as assistant editor of the Montgomery Advertiser.

Bill Jacobs is a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy and serves as the Ship Manpower Requirements Department Head for the Navy Manpower Analysis Center at the Naval Air Station Memphis. He is married to the former Anne E. Lantrip and has two sons, Billy and Bobby, and a daughter Carolyn Grace, born in February 1994.

Scott Jackson is at the Russell Corporation in Alexander City as an internal auditor.

Ned Kerr is the Clerk of the District Court in Canyon County, Idaho. He was the 1993 President of the Idaho Association of Court Recorders and Clerks.

Alva Lambert is currently an attorney in private practice. He received his J.D. from Jones School of Law in 1987.

Michael Landrum is a Commander of the 447th Signal Battalion in the U. S. Army at Fort Gordon, GA.

Johnny Lee is a supervisory computer specialist for the Air Force Wargaming Center. He is the acquisition manager for the Air Force Wargaming Center support contract. He is also a graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology Software Professional Development Program.

Wanda (Van Houten) McCullers works for Colonial Bank where she is responsible for ATM and teller systems.

Paul Millo is a mail processor for the U.S. Postal Service. He plans to complete his D.P.A. from the University of Alabama in the near future.

Kim Minkinow is the Director of Development for Three Springs in Huntsville. She is responsible for state contracting, facility development and renovation, and marketing for a company providing residential treatment services for adolescents.

Lisa Mitchell Parrish is the former host/anchor for the Alabama Public Television program For the Record where she prepared for and interviewed guests on the nightly news and public affairs program. She recently celebrated the birth of triplets.

Edwin Ward is a Navy Flight Officer (Lt. Commander). He married Lynore deCosta in 1991

Patricia Whilding has been hired as a development officer by the AUM Office of Institutional Advancement. Among her responsibilities will be merit scholarships, the AUM Family Campaign, the annual fund drive, and writing for The AUM Reporter.

Mike Brock is an inventory specialist for the Defense Logistics Agency where he directs the agency's positioning policies for spare parts support for the military services.

Scott Brunner is the Director of Communication for the National Association for Plastic Container Recovery. He manages a comprehensive communications program for the trade association.

Roy Gilreath is busy finding a job now that his Navy career is winding down.

Deborah McGill has taken the position of Executive Director of the Jefferson Metropolitan Park, the county owned industrial park in the Birmingham area.

John L. Mitchell is an industrial hygienist for the DVA Medical Center where he is responsible for occupational safety and health, environmental concerns, education and training. In his free time he enjoys singing in the church choir, working with the prison ministry, sailing, and woodcarving.

"Doc" Myers is the Chief, Associate Programs Evaluation for the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College. He describes himself as an "honest-to-goodness, full-blooded Libertarian."

Donna Pierce is the owner/vice president of Print It! Inc., which specializes in graphic design and commercial printing.

Earlie O. Rose, Jr. Lt. Col., U.S. Air Force, is Commander of the 56th Logistics Support Squadron at Luke Air Force Base. He is married to Joyce and has a son, Bryan.

Don Salo is a Lieutenant Colonel, Military Police in the U.S. Army. He is a recent graduate of the FBI National Academy and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on August 1, 1996.

Dan Seesholtz is an E-6 requirements officer in the U.S. Navy and is currently assigned to the Pentagon.

Michael Valentine is a Systems Telecommunications Engineering Manager for the United States Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base, OK. He is responsible for assessing and planning the communications requirements for Lajes Field, Azores (Portugal).

Jodi Voeller is Chief, Defense Meteorological Satellite Program for the U.S. Air Force. She is responsible for acquisition and logistics support for defense meteorological satellite systems. She is married to Charles W. Voeller and has two sons, Sean and Chad.

Dr. Douglas J. Watson co-authored an article with Dr. Wendy L. Hassett that appeared in the Jan/Feb 2003 issue of the Public Administration Review.  The article's title is "Long Serving City Managers: Why Do They Stay?"  Dr. Watson also co-edited the book, Local Government Management: Current Issues and Best Practices (M.E. Sharpe, 2003). with Dr. Hassett.

Trish Dewberry received her M.Ed. from UAB, Summer, 1995. She works for the Lowndes County Board of Education as a teacher for the multi-disabled and visually impaired. She was the UAB Hilton Perkins Scholar, 1994-1995 and is a consultant/speaker on the topics of ADA and other laws affecting special students in the regular class. Trish received the 1992-1993 Hayneville Middle School Teacher of the Year Award. She is a member of the Pastoral Council at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Lesley Dorsey is a clinical care coordinator for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. She recently passed the Certified Public Managers Examination.

Jeff Downes is a risk manager for the City of Montgomery where he is responsible for all risk management, financing, avoidance, and transfer activities for the City of Montgomery.

Michael Gilbert has taken the position of Executive Director of the Alabama Indian Affairs Commission.

Darla Graves has been elected President-elect of the Montgomery Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration.

Barbara Holt, Ph.D. has taken a position as Associate Director of the Center on Aging at West Virginia University. Dr. Holt had an article, "Factors Affecting Nursing Home Placement of Community-Served Individuals," in volume 19, number 8 (1996) of the International Journal of Public Administration. An earlier article by Dr. Holt, entitled "Targeting in Federal Grant Programs: The Case of the Older Americans Act," appeared in the September/October (1994) issue of the Public Administration Review.

Paul J. Moscarelli is in the U.S. Air Force and is currently a Ph.D student at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Mary Anne McInnish Patterson is the Breast Health Center and Women's Program Coordinator at Baptist Medical Center where she is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of community and professional women's health programs.

William C. Rivenbark, Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, had an article, "Ensuring the Integrity of Crucial Data," published in the Winter, 2002 issue of Popular Government.  The article reviewed procedures for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and comparability of performance measures.

Eddie Sammons has taken a position as Director of Montgomery Group Home. He was previously employed as a Job Developer for the Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority.

Christie Tarantino is the Director of Membership Marketing and Services for the Professional Convention Management Association, which has recently moved from Birmingham, AL, to Chicago, IL.

Traci L. Crysel is the Executive Assistant to Senator Steve Windom (D) - Mobile. She is the Committee Clerk of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee and the Senate Local Legislation No. 3 Committee, both of which are chaired by Sen. Windom.

Sam Dayhood is Vice President of Investment Services with Aliant Bank in Chelsea, AL.

Claudia Henderson, the Director of Perioperative Services at East Alabama Medical Center, was highlighted in the AU Alumni spotlight.

Pierre Rochefort works for Bombardier Aerospace in Canada where he is the F-18 Program Manager.

Downey Ward is a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy. Currently he is conducting work-ups to deploy as Assistant detachment Officer in Charge on board the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson.

Allen Berry was killed in a car accident in July 2000.  A couple months before his death, he passed the bar exam in the top 13% of the nation.

Dr. John Fortenberry has taken a position as Coordinator of the Health Care Administration Program for the Institute of Human Services and Public Policy at Louisiana State University-Shreveport.  His rank is Associate Professor.  He also published a book, Marketing Tools for Healthcare Executives (Oxford Crest).

J. Leland Holman has taken a position as Executive Director of the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Terry Mount has taken a position as Housing Coordinator for the Alabama Council on Human Relations.

Neil Murphree has taken a position teaching 11th grade American History at Prattville High School.

Michael Probst was the 1996 Libertarian candidate for the Second Congressional District. Mike also hosts "Liberty Forum," a television show that airs on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. on Montgomery's TCI channel 3. Last year, the Wall Street Journal published Mike's editorial, "A Welfare Reform: A Paradigm Revised," based on research conducted the previous summer. Probst majored in political science with a concentration in economics.

Bruce E. Service, CDR, U. S. Navy, is the Coordinator for Current Operations, Crisis Response Center, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE)/NATO. He is responsible for the coordination of operations relating to NATO participation in operations in the former Yugoslavia.

Frank Belote has recently acquired a job as county planning director in Bladen County, North Carolina. Belote first learned of the job opening as a result of surfing the Internet. He obtained the job, he said, as a result of his internship experience with the Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission, a position arranged by Dr. Tom Vocino, head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.

Elizabeth Kennedy Lawlor has taken the position as public relations director at Beasley, Allen Law Firm in Montgomery.

Tim Hatch was promoted to head of the Lodging Section for the Bureau of Environmental Services for the Alabama Department of Public Health after working as an environmentalist with the Montgomery County Health Department for five and a half years.

Jennifer Abbott has taken a position as Executive Director for the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Athens, Georgia.  She was formerly Executive Director of Montgomery Habitat for Humanity, Inc.

Dr. Erik Brooks completed his Ph.D. at Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently teaching at Georgia Southern University.

RADM William J. McCarthy has taken the position of Deputy for Operations, Operations Team Five, National Military Command Center on the Joint Staff.   He was formerly commander of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington.
