Dr. Finley is the author of numerous journal articles and reviews including “The Black Church and Political Issues,” published in The Network Directory (Vol 6, 2002-2003), “Crime Fighting and the Exclusionary Rule: Bama Talk on Giving the Police More Leeway to Gather Evidence in Criminal Cases,” Published in the National Political Science Review (Vol. 8, Spring, 2000), “Decoding the Cry for Term Limits: Why Black Elected officials Should Be Alarmed,” published in the National Conference of Black Political Scientists Newsletter (Vol. 10, No. 3, Winter 1995), and “Ways and Means of Improving Minority Influence on Public Policy: The Politics of Enacting Laws in the United States Congress That Work to the Advantage of Black and Poor People,” published in University Microfilms International (1983). His article “Testing Karp’s Explanation for Support of Legislative Term Limits in Alabama” is expected to be published soon in the Journal of Social and Behavioral Scientists. He also wrote the “Introduction” to the book Neither Carpetbaggers Nor Scalawags: Black Officeholders During the Reconstruction of Alabama, 1967-1978, by Richard Bailey (1993). Dr. Finley has made numerous presentations at professional conferences including the American Political Science Association, Southern Political Science Association, National Conference of Christians in Political Science, National Conference of Black Political Scientists, and Association of Social and Behavioral Scientists. He is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Alabama Political Science Association, former Chair of the Section on Criminal Justice Administration of the American Society of Public Administration, and a former member of the Editorial Board of Politics and Policy. Dr. Finley is also an ordained minister and pastor.
