Publications and Professional Activities

Prior to becoming the Khaled bin Sultan Eminent Scholar at AUM, Dr. Nathan held a variety of government and academic posts, including the U.S. Department of State, the Navy War College, and the Army War College. Dr. Nathan has also published a number of books and articles on international affairs and U.S. foreign policy. His textbooks, U.S. Foreign Policy and World Order and U.S. Foreign Policy Making (with J.K. Oliver), are widely used as text at the undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Nathan has written frequently for USA Today, the Foreign Service Journal, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and has some 70 articles published in scholarly journals. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in political science and international policy at AUM, and serves as Director of the Alabama World Affairs Council.
